@draft_apeth has made the dress of dreams! It’s so beautiful!! Sophie used our Festival Crayon Liberty Silk Crepe De Chine.

Sophie says, “I was dreaming up a full on twirly bustier dress in this Liberty silk I knew I had to have as soon as @sistermintaka posted it 🤩 I used the @daria_patternmaking #RoseCafeBustier in a size 12 E cup and was surprised how well it fitted with so few mods, bar pinching a little out of the upper cup and raising the neckline 1cm. It's fully boned and underwired and felt so secure all night. Their YouTube tutorials are SO helpful.

I am so bloody pleased with this dress. I absolutely love a dance and it saw me so comfortably through our first dance, the northern soul section, a Daft Punk DJ set, indie disco and emo hour all as the night became increasingly blurry and wet 🎉”

That Wildest Daydreams Viscose Linen fabric was a absolute dream to sew! When I started planning for the Big Sew Off, I knew I wanted to use one of my printed viscose linen fabrics. It stitches together effortlessly, which is exactly what you want when you’re sewing for 24 hours!

I made 4 garments in this fabric on that day including an oversized long sleeve shirt, a collared dress, a long sleeve top, and another dress. I’ve previously used this fabric to make shorts too. It’s incredibly versatile!

The last of this fabric will be going online today. They’re seconds with some flaws. I used some of the seconds for these projects, and managed to avoid using the flawed areas on the outside of the garments, so they all look lovely ☺️

A big shout out to the people who made me cry with

A big shout out to the people who made me cry with laughter (@nerrisapratt) and to everyone who came to sew at the @newcrafthouse. It was so lovely to be a part of this @thebigsewoff hub! I didn’t manage to snap a picture of everyone, but hopefully you spotted them on the live feed at various points if you were watching.

Whilst the event was tiring, I already miss being surrounded by sewists and sewing the night away! I can’t wait for the next one!!

The Big Sew Off was a huge success!

Thank you to the @sewoveritlondon for creating this wonderful charity event. We managed to raise over £10,000 for @mindcharity

We were set the challenge of sewing for 24 hours. I managed to stay up for the entire time and sew 4 garments! It normally takes me more than a day to sew a single garment.
I made a 90s vintage shirt, an Array Top, Array Dress and the Factory Dress. Every single garment was donated to refugees and asylum seekers via @giveyourbest.uk

It was incredibly rewarding. Thank you to everyone who kept us going. The sewing hub in the @newcrafthouse was full of the most brilliant people. I had such a lovely time making new friends and catching up with some old friends too.

The thing that kept us going more than anything else was hearing how much money we’d raise. We’d regularly refresh the @thebigsewoff fundraising page and would cheer wildly when the figures went up. Thank you so much to everyone who donated, watched the live streams and encouraged us to keep going.
