It’s that time of year when we start to look forward to one of the most exciting sewcial events of the year. I’m talking about The New Craft House winter party!! This year the theme is All That Glitters and it is such an amazing theme! Did you know that there’s an award on the night for the Best Handmade Outfit? I’ve had a browse through our shelves and picked out all the things that glitter and sparkle. So allow me to inspire you and have a browse through our selection.
We have a gorgeous range of Atelier Brunette Stardust fabrics. You’ll have seen these all over Instagram and I’m sure you’ll agree with me, that they make the best dresses!
Perhaps you’d prefer to work with an easy stable cotton. These Rico fabrics (Wreaths and Branches) have a lovely festive feel, with beautiful metallic details. They don’t have an obvious directional print, so you can make amazing full circle skirts and twirl around all night long!
Are you looking to make more of a statement? Take a look at our most precious fabric, the Banaras Border Bunch Brocade.
This panelled fabric could be delicately cut and used to make a stunning clutch bag. If you fancy a bit more of a challenge then I’m dreaming of a princess seamed bodice which you might just be able to squeeze out with some very careful cutting! You could make a lovely fitted cropped top, and add a full circle midi skirt to go with it. Perhaps you could use one of our colourful silks for the skirt!
If you’re feeling sensible and conscious of the cooler weather in December, then our Jacquard Shimmer Chic fabric would be the choice for you. It has a lovely weight, so I’m sure it will keep you feeling warmer.
The final fabric choice in the list is the Dazzle Night knit fabric. It might not be the most obvious choice, but sometimes you want to be able to layer up and add a jumper to your outfit. This would be perfect as you’ll still be in keeping with the theme and you’ll feel nice and warm too!
I’ve picked out a few little bonus bits and pieces from our haberdashery range too.
Perhaps you could make a dress using one of our plain crepes and then add a touch of french chic, by adding some gold or silver piping. Could you hack the Carolyn Pajama Shirt into a dress and add a waist tye? Imagine using the Night Crepe and gold piping… oh that is the dress of dreams!
Finally to finish off the list, I’d like to show you our metallic washable papers. They come in gold, rose gold and silver, and they’d make the perfect clutch bag to add that extra detail to your outfit!
I hope you’re feeling inspired by the suggestions above (I know I really want to make that Carolyn dress!)
As a special treat you can get an amazing 15% off everything on the #allthatglitters list with code GLITTER15 when you reach the checkout. Happy Sewing!
